What do you do at Learning Links?

I have the privilege of coaching and mentoring our kaiako in their key role of implementing Learning Links Group curriculum, appraisal and registration process as well as recruiting new superstars for our company!
What do you like about your work the most?

I love being busy and supporting individuals and teams to strive for their best and achieve outstanding results for not only our tamariki, but also for themselves.
What do you like to do in your spare time?

Travelling is my thing, more specifically ‘glamping’. Packing up the motorhome Thursday night and hitting the open roads Friday after work – seeing and experiencing as many opportunities as we can ‘Don’t be fooled by the calendar, there are only as many days in the year as you make use of.
What is your favourite meal?

I love a roast lamb with mint sauce and all the trimmings do not forget the yams!
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?

I actually have two, I have the uncanny ability to know what my kids have got up to even before they do, and I’m not one to brag but I can play ‘by the Rivers of Babylon’ on recorder!
Who is your hero?

My hero is my Grandfather! A hard-working, dedicated man who would pride himself in giving his all and completing any task he set out to do. Living through the ‘Hongerwinter’ aka, the Dutch famine and having to flee his Country.

Grandad was resilient and determined to live. He has passed onto me a passion for gardening, growing & providing plenty of fruit & vegetables for the family – I tend to always have an abundance of Chillies, Courgettes & Silverbeet!
What have you learned from parents/children at Learning Links?

We are all busy people and with everything that we have to do can become easily distracted however, working with the children at learning links alongside our philosophy of ‘Respectful, Peaceful Practices has taught me one of the most important things that you can gift someone is your time and to remember all the little details that make our days so magical and interesting.
What have you learned from your team?

Though there’s much you can create by working alone, the greatest success often comes when you create and work with a network of friends and colleagues.
